NCC picks 115 arbitrators

9 Nov 2006

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has selected 115 law firms from around the country to handle disputes in the increasingly competitive telecoms market. Under the Communications Act 2003, the NCC has a duty to examine and resolve complaints filed between licensed operators, consumers, or others connected with the industry. Under an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanism, the neutrals will act promptly and impartially, thus avoiding the need for court action, which can be slow, costly and may unearth a minefield of legal technicalities.
