KKR in takeover bid for Vivendi

6 Nov 2006

Private equity group Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) has reportedly tabled an offer for the French music and telecoms conglomerate Vivendi Universal. The Financial Times reports that KKR had earlier offered EUR40 billion (USD50.84 billion) for the group, but talks faltered over concerns about Vivendi losing its special tax status. The French firm is said to have reviewed the offer, but no agreement was reached and the talks have now ended.
