neuf Cegetel picks Nortel for fixed-mobile convergence solution

3 Nov 2006

French alternative telecoms operator neuf Cegetel has selected Nortel Networks to supply it with an IMS-ready solution to support its new product TWIN, which it claims is the country’s first fixed-mobile convergence service. The telco says that the GSM/Wi-Fi product will enable subscribers to save up to 30% on their existing monthly mobile bills while also benefiting from a broadband internet connection with a downstream connection of up to 11Mbps. TWIN utilises Nortel’s VoIP and IMS-ready technology to deliver unified voice, messaging and multimedia communications services for use at home or for working remotely with high speed broadband internet connections.
