2 Nov 2006

Nokia has won a GPRS packet core network expansion contract with Guangdong Mobile Communications Corporation (Guangdong MCC) to supply its GPRS packet core solution, consisting of the Nokia Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN), Nokia Flexi Intelligent Service Node and the Nokia Charging Gateway. The solution will provide an easy migration path to Nokia’s Combi SGSN, as the 3G access support capability may be achieved with a simple memory and interface upgrade. The new network equipment will be supported by the Nokia NetAct network and service management system. The Finnish vendor will also provide network planning, implementation and integration services. Deliveries have already begun; on completion, the new network equipment will serve more than eleven million data subscribers in the Eastern Guangdong province.
