Softbank Mobile in hot water over possible advertising violations

1 Nov 2006

Japan’s Fair Trade Commission (FTC) is reported to be investigating Softbank Mobile over alleged advertising violations. The operator has been in the news in recent weeks following a series of announcements. It said it was slashing its prices in the run-up to the introduction of mobile number portability (MNP) last week, but ran into trouble at the weekend when its system became overloaded with customers looking to switch to its service. According to reports in the Kyodo News, the FTC is now investigating the content of Softbank’s advertising on suspicion that parts of it may violate regulations.
