Afghan Wireless celebrates arrival of new base stations

Cellco Afghan Wireless Communications Company, a joint venture between US-based Telephone Systems International (TSI) and the Afghan government, has announced that 50 new base stations have been installed by Siemens, extending its coverage and capacity in a number of major cities including Kabul, Gazni, Jalabad and Mazar. The expansion is part of its wider strategy to increase its number of base stations by more than 100% over the course of the next twelve months. Cities to be included in the next wave of rollout include Islam Qala, Saripul and Jawan.
