Sales up at Mobily

Saudi Arabia’s second cellular operator Etihad Etisalat, which offers services under the name Mobily, has announced revenues for the first nine months of this year of SAR4.28 billion (USD1.14 billion). A comparison from last year is not available since Mobily only launched services in the Kingdom in May 2005. Net profit for the three months to the end of September was SAR217 million (USD58 million), compared to a loss of SAR166 million (USD44 million) in 3Q 2005. Mobily, which is 35%-owned by UAE telco Etisalat, had 4.8 million subscribers, including around 300,000 3G customers, at the end of last month.
