PowerTel launches wholesale ADSL2+

31 Oct 2006

Australian alternative operator PowerTel has launched wholesale ADSL2+ services and sealed a deal to provide Perth-based ISP Westnet with connections at download speeds of up to 24Mbps. PowerTel’s ADSL2+ network incorporates its own infrastructure and the extensive ADSL2+ network built by its retail ISP partner iiNet; PowerTel was granted rights to utilise iiNet’s network after taking a 14.9% stake in the company earlier this year. PowerTel is one of just a handful of Australia operators to have launched ADSL2+ services. Fixed line incumbent Telstra is expected to launch its own ADSL2+ network shortly.
