Successful cellco WLTM partner for fixed line fun

27 Oct 2006

Mobile operator Vodafone Australia intends to tender for a fixed line operating partner, with the aim of diversifying its business and earning AUD200 million in revenue from fixed line services by 2009, writes The Australian. Vodafone Australia has tested the market by having talks with six second-tier players, such as iiNet and Primus Telecom, the paper claims. It aims to offer bundled fixed and mobile services by mid-2007. Earlier this month, UK-based Vodafone Group said it plans to source 10% of revenues from fixed line services within three to four years, as it looks to counter pricing pressures in the global wireless markets.
