Ericsson to install Bouygues’ 3G Network

27 Oct 2006

French cellco Bouygues Télécom has contracted Swedish vendor Ericsson to supply W-CDMA/HSPA equipment in the Greater Paris and Rhône-Alpes regions, as part of Bouygees’ nationwide 3G network, due to be launched in early 2007. The two regions are the largest in terms of mobile traffic. Canadian vendor Nortel is already constructing the network in Bouygues’ four other operational regions; Western, Southwestern, Northeastern and Mediterranean. The cellco, France’s smallest, had 8.3 million subscribers at the end of June 2006, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
