Soaring growth continues

According to the latest figures from regulatory body the Ministry of Information and Industry, the number of wireless subscribers in China rose to 443 million at the end of September, an increase of almost 50 million in the first nine months of the year and an average of 5.5 million new users per month. A ministry spokesman said that the robust growth is due to an expanding rural market and the increasing number of people who have more than one mobile phone. Fixed line subscriptions are also growing, albeit at a much slower rate, at around 2.1 million per month, bringing the total to 369 million customers.
