Mobile market grows to 29.2 million subscribers

According to statistics from the Ministry of Communications and industry and trading regulator SIC, quoted by BNamericas, Colombia’s mobile market grew by over 1.2 million subscribers in the third quarter of 2006, reaching 29.2 million at the end of September. América Móvil’s Comcel remains the market leader, with a 64% share of the country’s subscriber base, followed by Telefónica’s Móvistar with 26% and Ola – acquired by Millicom International Cellular in August 2006 – with the remainder.
