Comstar UTS eyes WiMAX

Russian telco Comstar Unified Telesystems (Comstar UTS) has revealed plans to construct WiMAX networks in 16 regions. A Prime Tass report, which cites business daily Kommersant, says the firm is looking at rolling out wireless broadband networks in cities with over one million inhabitants where it already has operations or affiliates. Comstar is already building a trial WiMAX system in Moscow and has now applied for spectrum in the 2.5GHz to 2.7GHz range.
