Addressing local media this week, the managing director of Telecom Namibia, Frans Ndoroma, highlighted his company’s ongoing technology upgrade programmes, including the conversion of its public switched fixed line network to an all IP-based network, scheduled to be completed over the next four years at a cost of NAD1 billion (USD135 million), and the national rollout of ADSL lines, mobile EV-DO services, Wi-Fi internet access and other business services such as Ethernet. ‘This year, we are making the first big steps towards the future, investing aggressively in portability, broadband and ICT,’ said Ndoroma, adding that there is a commitment to bring high speed internet services to residents and business clients from December this year, with users in the capital Windhoek likely to get broadband access before the end of November.
