Russian telco Golden Telecom says it is to invest USD10 million in rolling out 6,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across Moscow. The firm expects to begin testing the new network in mid-November, with a commercial launch scheduled for January next year. Local newspaper Kommersant reports that Golden Telecom is hoping to capture between 15% and 20% of Moscow’s broadband internet market within two years. The network will have capacity for up to 400,000 users by 2010, with data transmission speeds of around 2Mbps.
