TeliaSonera’s International Carrier unit is set to expand its international backbone network to Asia, and set up its first point of presence (PoP) in Hong Kong, according to its director Ingvar Larsson. The expanded network will enable Asian customers to access the Nordic firm’s IP, voice (including VoIP) and mobile services, and to connect locally to the European IP backbone, AS1299. ‘The expansion into Asia is an important strategic step in our ambition to become one of the three largest global IP carriers,’ said Larsson.
