According to reports from DMEurope, Hungarian alternative telecoms operator GTS Datanet has contracted NEC Australia to roll out its DSLAM network. GTS Datanet, a subsidiary of GTS Central Europe is looking to boost its share of the unbundled local loop (ULL) access market and drive up broadband subscriber growth by increasing its DSL port capacity to 30,000 in 2006. NEC will deliver 21 AM Series DSLAM nodes to the operator along with its AM31 Multi Service Access Platform which supports Gigabit Ethernet and ULL technology. The Australian division of NEC hopes to extend the contract with GTS Datanet in 2007 to include value added services such as IPTV.
