Etisalat has announced that revenues for the nine months to September 2006 reached AED11.8 billion (USD494.1 million), up 26% on the corresponding period last year. EBIT and net income grew even more sharply with both climbing 36% to AED4.2 billion and AED4.4 billion respectively. The figures were boosted by strong operational performances across the range of Etisalat’s services: mobile subscribers grew 22% to 5.26 million, internet subscribers were up a third to 630,000 and the number fixed lines increased by 4% to 1.28 million. ‘The performance of the corporation in the first nine months of 2006 brings us even closer to our ambition of being among the top ten telecom operators in the world by 2010,’ said Etisalat chairman Mohammed Hassan Omran.
