Slap on wrist for Etisalat

UAE incumbent Etisalat has received a formal written warning from the Telecoms Regulatory Authority (TRA) regarding its failure to comply with articles 14(1) and 80(21) of the Telecommunications Law, its violation of article 3(7) of its own licence and its transgression of the TRA’s price control policy. As previously reported in CommsUpdate, the offence relates to a recent promotion for which Etisalat failed to seek approval from the regulator. It was deemed anti-competitive and had to be withdrawn.
