Italian vendor Pirelli Broadband Solutions has been chosen by German broadband operator Arcor to supply dual GSM/Wi-Fi phones for the launch of a new commercial VoIP offer. Users will be able to use the handsets to make regular mobile calls with a SIM card or place a call via the internet with a DSL subscription. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Arcor, a subsidiary of Vodafone, is Germany’s second placed broadband company with an estimated 1.3 million DSL subscribers at the end of June 2006.
