Russia’s largest cellular operator, MTS, added 400,000 net new subscribers in September to take its total customer base to 49.99 million, up from 38.87 million a year before. 11.01 million of these are in Moscow, with another 2.69 million in St Petersburg. The cellco’s international operations also performed well. Its subsidiary in Ukraine ended September with 16.36 million users, up from 10.94 million twelve months ago, while its division in Uzbekistan saw users rise from 490,000 to 1.09 million. The unconsolidated operation in Belarus added 1.04 million customers in the year to 30 September, taking its total to 2.89 million.
