Cote d’Ivoire’s latest cellular licensee, Comium Mobile, has selected Huawei Technologies to build out its nationwide networks. The contract includes providing a full turnkey GSM, GPRS, 3G and Intelligent Network. The cellco was awarded the country’s fourth GSM concession in July, although only two firms – MTN and Orange – are currently providing services. The third licence holder, Aircomm-CI, was granted its concession in 2000 but has failed to launch. Comium says it expects to launch by March next year.
