Vietnam’s Ministry of Post and Telematics has revealed third-quarter mobile figures showing a seven million increase in subscribers since the start of the year. There are now 17 million wireless users in the country. MobiFone takes the top spot with six million customers, followed by Viettel and Vinaphone with five million each. The Vietnamese-Korean joint venture S-Fone claims a million subscribers. Forecasts are that the cellcos will attract a total of ten million newcomers by the end of the year. However, as CommsUpdate has previously indicated, subscriber figures from Vietnam should be viewed with a degree of scepticism due to inconsistent methods of reporting across the different networks.
