NEC Corp of Japan says it has supplied High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology to NTT DoCoMo, with the cellco having already launched its first HSDPA services at the end of August. Prior to the full-blown commercial launch the pair had cooperated on field trials of the 3.5G network, with NEC supplying infrastructure systems including node-B base stations and radio network controllers (RNC). NEC added that it has also supplied DoCoMo with N902iX HIGH-SPEED HSDPA handsets to support the launch.
