Maltacom Group has announced a pre-tax profit of MTL6.3 million (USD18.7 million) for the first half of 2006, thanks to a 36% increase in profit before tax from its broadband business Datastream and a 34% improvement by its wireless arm. The Group’s turnover for the six-month period ended 30 June 2006 was MTL26.6million, virtually unchanged on the same period of 2005. Maltacom, which is owned by the UAE-based conglomerate TECOM, is currently investing in the roll out of a 3G network, which is expected to go live in 1H 2007.
