Elion to launch WiMAX in ‘a few weeks’

Estonia’s incumbent fixed line operator Elion Enterprises has contracted Alcatel to deploy a commercial WiMAX network in Estonia, the vendor said in a statement. Initial deployment has been completed in Tallinn and the surrounding area, and wireless broadband services will be launched commercially ‘in a few weeks time’. Under the terms of the agreement, Alcatel is supplying an end-to-end WiMAX solution including base stations and customer premises equipment. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
