According to BNamericas, quoting Argentine newspaper La Nacion, Buenos Aires is the Wi-Fi capital of Latin America. There are now 397 hotspots across the city (of which 98% are free) located in restaurants, bars, universities, gyms, airports and petrol stations, putting the Paris of the South ahead of Mexico City (361 hotspots) and Santiago (286). Laptops now account for 10% of PCs sold in Argentina, and according to one local study laptop ownership almost doubled in the first half of 2006.
