TSTT passes million mobile mark

25 Sep 2006

Telecommunications Services of Trinidad & Tobago (TSTT) says it has signed up more than a million GSM mobile customers, according to BNamericas quoting a company statement. ‘This landmark is especially important because it was achieved at a time when the market was liberalised and actually represents a startling statistic, and that is that TSTT was able to add new customers to its network as fast as, or faster than, the new mobile operator Digicel,’ TSTT VP mobile services Gary Barrow said. TSTT and Digicel have been in cut-throat competition since the new operator launched in late 2005. The rivalry between the pair has been heightened by a long running dispute regarding the prices TSTT charges Digicel to exchange calls with its customers.
