Volga Telecom sets target

Russian telco Volga Telecom, which is part of the state-backed Svyazinvest group, says it expects to have attracted 2.5 million cellular subscribers by the end of the year according to a report from Prime Tass. Volga Telecom has stakes in eight mobile operations: Nizhny Novgorod Cellular Communications (NSS, 100%), RTKOM (100%), Saratov Mobile (100%), Penza Mobile (100%), Chuvashia Mobile (100%), Ulyanovsk GSM (60%), Orenburg GSM (51%) and Tatincom-T (50% plus one share). It also operates in the constituent republic of Mari El. All its operations are scheduled to be merged into NSS in 2007.
