21 Sep 2006

Fixed line operator Telecom Namibia plans to spend NAD1 billion (USD135.2 million) on new technology by 2010, according to its managing director Frans Ndoroma. Earlier this month the telco announced that it was rolling out ADSL internet access services to the capital Windhoek before the end of this year, and Ndoroma told a press conference yesterday that it plans to spread broadband technology across the country over the next four years, with new revenue streams expected to contribute around 45% of its total turnover by 2010. To fund the investment, Telecom intends to raise NAD400 million on the financial markets, with the remainder provided by its own resources.
