Nepalese wireless operator Mero Mobile launched Multimedia Message Service (MMS) and Personalised Ring Back Tones Services (PRBTS) last Sunday, according to reports in local newspaper The Rising Nepal. The switch-on was timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the company’s launch. Spice Nepal, the first Nepalese private sector cellco, began offering services under the brand name Mero Mobile in September 2005. Initially only available to users in the Kathmandu valley, its service was soon extended to several major towns, including Pokhara, Hetauda, Nagarkot, Banepa, Dhulikhel, Bharatpur, Narayanghat, Bardaghat, Butwal, Bhairahawa, Birgunj, Simara and Biratnagar. The cellco currently has around 200,000 pre-paid and post-paid users.
