Wataniya wins second Palestinian mobile licence

The Palestinian Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MTIT) has revealed that Wataniya International was the highest bidder for the second Palestinian mobile licence. The Kuwait-based cellco offered JOD251 million (USD356.7 million) to secure the right to deploy and operate 2G and 3G networks. Wataniya International will establish a new Palestinian subsidiary that will be 40% owned by Wataniya International, 30% by the Palestine Investment Fund and 30% by the general population via an IPO.
