Italian ISP Tiscali has reported a net loss of EUR74.1 million for the first half of 2006, reversing a net profit of EUR14.5 million in 1H 2005. Operating losses were down, however, from EUR46.4 million to EUR28.5 million. Sales were up 17% at EUR412.5 million. Tiscali added 360,000 new broadband internet customers in the first half of this year, taking its total base to more than two million.
Meanwhile, broadband rival FastWeb has reported that its own DSL customer base increased 46% in the year to June 2006 to reach 874,300. Consolidated first-half revenues were up 37% to EUR578.4 million, while EBITDA was up 44% to EUR183.3 million. Net losses were reduced from EUR62.4 million to EUR47 million.
