Regulator gives Deutsche Telekom three months to open VDSL network

German regulator Bundesnetzagentur has told the incumbent Deutsche Telekom (DT) that it must open its VDSL network to competitors, and it has 90 days to propose standard prices for access. The network, which offers connection speeds of up to 50Mbps, currently serves ten cities, but DT has threatened to halt its planned expansion to a further 40 cities unless it can recoup the EUR3 billion (USD3.8 billion) total investment.
