Taiwanese cellular operator Far EasTone has announced that it intends to launch HSDPA-enabled 3.5G services at the end of this month. It is hoping the launch will help boost its non-voice revenues. Initially only available to laptop datacard users, HSDPA will be offered via a new range of handsets by early 2007. The advanced 3G network has only been deployed in the greater Taipei area. Far EasTone has almost six million subscribers and is the third largest operator in the Taiwanese mobile sector.
