According to latest figures from the Hungarian Central Statistics Office (KSH), there were more than 1.03 million internet subscribers by 30 June 2006, representing a year-on-year rise of 31.2%. Broadband subscriptions rose by 63% in the twelve-month period and now outstrip dial-up accounts by a ratio of 3:1. The number of ISPs stood at 230 by end-June, up 35 in a year, although the sector was highly concentrated with only 19 of them controlling 90% of all subscribers at that date.
