13 Sep 2006

Vodafone New Zealand says it will launch HSDPA technology on 1 October, giving customers access to data download rates up to a maximum 3.6Mbps. The firm says average download speeds should be in the region of 800kbps-1.4Mbps, which is comparable with fixed broadband technologies. Coverage details for the HSDPA-enabled network was not given. Market leader Vodafone launched W-CDMA 3G services just over twelve months ago.
