Long-distance wireless internet network for UAE

The chief executive of UAE telco Du, Osman Sultan, has announced that his company will build a WiMAX network in the country. Sultan said that testing of technologies was underway but no decision on the size and scope of the deployment had been made. Du, the only competitor to the incumbent Etisalat, has yet to launch any services, but intends to offer mobile and fixed line telephony, broadband internet and cable TV by the end of 2006.
