Iliad (Free) to roll out FTTH in Paris

11 Sep 2006

Iliad (Free) plans to roll out a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in Paris, according to reports from Telecompaper. The ISP said it will connect homes through a dedicated fibre-optic link in order to offer multimedia applications such as HDTV. The planned FTTH upgrade will reduce Iliad’s reliance on France Télécom for access to the latter’s local access network. It plans to start selling the high speed service in Paris in the first half of 2007 and will invest EUR1 billion (USD1.27 billion) in the project between now and 2012.
