Pipex boosts broadband business with Bulldog and Toucan acquisitions

UK ISP Pipex has agreed to acquire the consumer internet businesses of Cable & Wireless (C&W)’s Bulldog and IDT Telecom’s Toucan. Pipex will pay GBP12 million (USD22.6 million) for the rights to the Bulldog name and domains, as well as its ADSL customers, and GBP24 million for the ISP business of Toucan. The deals will see Pipex’s voice and broadband customer base rise to 1.14 million.

In a separate development C&W has won a contract to provide Pipex with wholesale unbundled local loop (ULL) network services in a deal expected to be worth over GBP250 million over five years.
