7 Sep 2006

New Zealand telco CallPlus has ordered WiMAX wireless broadband equipment from Israeli supplier Alvarion. The equipment will be used to deploy a network in the Whangarei district of North Island, with Siemens acting as the local partner for systems integration and ongoing support. Established in 1996, CallPlus claims to be New Zealand’s third largest full service telco. It is providing WiMAX services under the name Blue Reach and intends to begin a nationwide rollout in 2007.
