Uruguay to get UMTS network

Following a year of testing by Huawei, state-controlled Uruguayan cellco Ancel is to purchase UMTS equipment to establish a 3G network in the country. When completed it will be the first W-CDMA network in Latin America. Under the deal, Huawei will provide Ancel with an end-to-end solution including so-called 3.5G HSDPA software.
