Cosmote eyes 3G

Cosmote Romania has applied for a 3G mobile licence, according to a report from Dow Jones. The firm has submitted a bid for a concession which will cost around USD35 million. Winning bidders are due to be announced by the Romanian Inspectorate for Communications and IT on 15 October. Cosmote is the smallest of Romania’s three GSM operators, with just 275,000 subscribers at the end of March according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
