Vodafone KK subscribers looking to take advantage of MNP

4 Sep 2006

According to the results of an online survey by the Nikkei Industrial Daily, nearly 25% of all Vodafone KK (Softbank Mobile) subscribers are considering moving to another service provider when mobile number portability (MNP) is introduced in Japan on 24 October. The survey showed that 24.7% of all Vodafone users were considering moving to another company, followed by 18.7% for NTT DoCoMo and 8.1% for KDDI Corp. As well as recording the lowest number of possible lost subscribers, KDDI emerged as the preferred company with 61.1% of respondents saying they would consider switching to its network, ahead of Vodafone and DoCoMo with 17.6% and 13.5%, respectively. The survey also found that 17.1% of all respondents intend to take advantage of MNP, down 6.1% from a survey conducted in June, as more people become aware of the attendant costs of switching providers.
