Tele2 Sweden contracts Siemens for mobile network integration

Siemens is upgrading Tele2 Sweden’s 2G and 3G core mobile networks to a combined 2G/3G voice and data core network, under a framework contract agreed earlier this week. Under the deal the German technology provider will deploy a 3GPP R4 compliant split-architecture GSM/W-CDMA core network, set for completion by the end of the year. The integrated solution is aimed at lowering administrative and operating costs and increasing the efficiency of voice and data applications.
