South Africa-based mobile operator MTN has reported an 18% increase in first-half revenues to ZAR20.2 billion (USD2.8 billion). Its domestic operations contributed ZAR11.6 billion of the total in the six months to 30 June, while Nigeria brought in ZAR6.4 billion. Profits were up 23% to ZAR5.4 billion. Group subscriber numbers rose 9.4% to 25.4 million, including 10.44 million in South Africa, 9.64 million in Nigeria, 1.53 million in Cameroon and 1.11 million in Cote d’Ivoire.
