Wireless broadband use is growing

30 Aug 2006

A recent report suggests that wireless broadband usage in Russia is surging, with customer numbers up 30% in the first half of this year. Market research firm iKS Consulting estimates there were 35,000 wireless broadband users in Russia at the end of June, from 27,000 at the start of January, which is still only a tiny proportion of overall broadband subscribers. The spread of WiMAX technology is expected to boost wireless broadband take-up, however, with the likes of Enforta and Synterra already offering commercial WiMAX aservices according to TeleGeography’s WiMAX Market Tracking service.
