VSNL to link Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan with new cable

29 Aug 2006

VSNL International, a subsidiary of India’s Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL), has announced plans to build a new high-capacity submarine cable system linking Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan to better serve its global customers doing business in and with the Asia Pacific markets. The intra-Asia cable, when combined with the Tata Indicom Cable System and the TGN-Pacific cable system, will complete VSNL International’s multi-Terabit network linking India to Asia and onward to the US, the carrier said. Construction of the cable will begin before the end of the year and is due to be complete within twelve months.
