Versatel Germany’s DSL base reaches 380,000

Versatel Germany signed up 100,000 DSL customers in the first half of 2006 to reach a total of 380,000 on 30 June. Its total internet and telephony customer base stood at 600,000 at the end of the six-month period, including 512,000 residential subscribers. The company reported first-half revenues of EUR321.5 million (USD411 million) and EBITDA of EUR84.4 million. It expects to reach full-year revenues of EUR670 million. Versatel has a telecoms network covering more than 170 cities and towns in Germany, and has announced plans to deploy a total of at least 270 DSL switches in almost 80 German cities and municipalities before the end of the year.
