Telkom DSL move welcomed

25 Aug 2006

Telkom South Africa says it plans to offer a free upgrade to customers of its 1Mbps ADSL offering, Home and Business DSL 1024. Subscribers will be offered an upgrade to a 4Mbps service on a trial basis; if successful, the change will be made permanent. The company doubled the speed of its low-end DSL package earlier this year, from 192kbps to 384kbps, at no extra cost to users. Competitors have welcomed the move; Internet Solutions said the move was: ‘Good news for all SA broadband users and a move in the right direction, at last’, according to a report from local website MyADSL.
